BESPOKE

Italian and British tailoring represent two visions of male elegance, two distinct interpretations of the same craft, united by a long-standing tradition yet marked by clearly defined and contrasting histories, aesthetic philosophies, and construction techniques.

sartoria inglese

British tailoring has its roots in military tradition, from which it inherits its discipline, structure, and formal approach traits that still define its character today. It is characterized by the use of heavy fabrics such as tweed and carded wool, chosen primarily to suit the damp, rainy, and cool climate of the United Kingdom. These fabrics provide better thermal insulation and help garments maintain their shape even in humid conditions.

The style is defined by classic cuts, impeccable structure, and a particular focus on the quality of materials and finishes. Jackets feature more pronounced shoulders, well-defined lapels, and a silhouette that sculpts the body with precision. It is a school of thought where discipline, restraint, and elegance come together to create timeless garments.

Italian tailoring tradition is rooted in centuries of artisanal mastery.

Its origins date back to 1575, when Pope Gregory XIII established the first University of Tailors in Rome. The term sartoria comes from the Latin sartor, meaning “mender” or “one who restores”, a direct reference to the essence of this craft: giving shape, value, and beauty to raw material.

Since then, Italian tailoring has evolved through the centuries, weaving together passion, artisanal expertise, and a refined aesthetic sense—adapting to the diverse needs of its clientele over time. In the 19th century, Italian tailoring underwent various stylistic evolutions, introducing trends such as cigarette trousers. Nonetheless, the bespoke suit remained the cornerstone of male elegance, a symbol of refinement and craftsmanship.

In the post-war era, during the rise of the “Dolce Vita” phenomenon, Italian tailoring reached one of its most iconic and internationally recognizable expressions. During those years, it became a way of life renowned worldwide for its softness, lightness, and creative energy capable of reinventing the classic with a modern twist. It was in this context that great names and prestigious fashion houses emerged, marking an entire era. In 1951, the National Chamber for Italian Fashion (Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana) was founded with the aim of promoting Italian fashion globally and ensuring high standards of quality.

The 1980s and 1990s marked a true boom: the Italian fashion industry took the international stage by storm, solidifying its reputation as a global benchmark for elegance, innovation, and craftsmanship, and earning its own distinctive label Made in Italy.
It is ideal for those seeking a refined yet relaxed style, with a strong focus on personal taste and contemporary fashion. Jackets often feature unstructured shoulders, lightweight canvases, and a more fluid construction, designed to enhance movement and ensure comfort on every occasion.

Italy’s mild and sunny climate favors the use of lightweight, breathable fabrics such as linen and worsted wool, ideal for ensuring comfort and freedom of movement even during the warmest months. Italian tailoring, known for its elegant cuts and dynamic silhouettes, creates an effortless look typical of sprezzatura. This concept, introduced by Baldassare Castiglione in the 1500s, is expressed in tailoring through the choice of fabrics, cuts, and colors that enhance the figure without weighing it down, reflecting the client’s personality in a perfect balance of refinement and natural ease.

Each of our garments is a tribute to the art of Italian tailoring, where every detail is crafted to express the uncompromising quality that defines us.

Our brand is born from a careful study of the three main schools of Italian tailoring: Neapolitan, Roman, and Milanese.

napoli

Neapolitan tailoring takes shape in the alleys of Naples as an independent evolution of the European tailoring tradition, sharing some influences with French tailoring during periods of historical contact, and later reinterpreted according to the taste, climate, and lifestyle of Naples. It boasts a long tradition dating back to 1351 with the founding of the Confraternity of Tailors, at a time when Naples was an important cultural center. It is an authentic expression of a culture made of passion, ancient gestures, and a natural elegance that requires no ostentation. It has won the world over with its lightness and effortless spirit, never compromising on the purest artisanal quality.

What sets it apart are key elements such as the “shirt shoulder,” free of padding for a more natural effect, generous lapels, “mappina” sleeves, soft trousers, and an unstructured cut. The result is a garment that fits the body naturally, following movements without stiffness and perfectly adapting to the wearer’s physique. Each suit is the result of a dialogue between tailor and client, where tailoring skill combines with experience and sensitivity. What makes Neapolitan tailoring unique is also the balance between tradition and character.

Roman tailoring stands out for its formal, rigorous, and sober character, reflecting the city from which it takes its name: Rome, an institutional capital and crossroads of classical elegance. Here, the construction of the suit combines precision with naturalness, making it ideal for institutional or formal settings. The Roman style is often described as a meeting point between British rigor and Italian softness, a perfect balance between form and function.

milano

Milanese tailoring represents the third great soul of the Italian sartorial tradition. It is the most modern, international, and cosmopolitan of the three, a direct reflection of the city of Milan: the capital of fashion, design, and metropolitan elegance. Milanese tailoring is synonymous with rational refinement, designed for the businessman and the modern professional. It is sober, functional, and always contemporary, capable of blending craftsmanship and innovation. It combines artisanal care with clean, essential lines. It is the style of the contemporary professional, the cosmopolitan traveler, the man who chooses bespoke garments as an investment in image, practicality, and style.

Our bespoke garments are unique creations, designed exclusively to meet the needs of each client.

Each of our tailored garments is constructed using full canvas craftsmanship, employing horsehair canvases of the highest quality and natural yarns: the canvas is carefully worked and hand-stitched between the outer fabric and the lining. This process, which requires great skill, ensures a natural fit that molds to the shape of the body, also thanks to its warmth, providing superior durability over time and a fit that evolves with the wearer.

Horsehair canvas, being a natural material, allows for better air circulation, keeping the garment fresh and breathable. At the same time, it enhances the fluidity of movement, making it more comfortable and elegant.

In a fast-paced world, we believe in the value of time, care, and beauty born from details, combining the heritage of Italian tailoring tradition with the needs of the contemporary man.
